SUMMARY:Retro Safety Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our Retro Program participants have experienced the best refunds in the state year after year since its inception in 1997.\n\n\n\nSafety meetings are open to all members of the SWCA. SWCA Safety Meeting attendance is mandatory for participation in the SWCA Retro.\n\n\n\nTransitioning from Following Rules to Avoiding Risk\n\nAs organizations start on a path towards vibrant safety culture\, most start by creating and enforcing rules. As we learned in the first session\, this approach has only finite success. This session will present how successful organizations transition from "following rules" to "identifying and avoiding risk"\, and will show how five common tactics help transition from reactive to proactive safety culture\n\n\n\nBSI Facilitators\n\nBrett Phillips\, LEED AP\, is a Principal Consultant with BSI\, providing Environmental\, Health\, Safety and Sustainability services.\n\nBrett has broad-based EHS experience in construction and facilities operation since 1987. He served as EHS program manager for construction projects for Intel in the US Northwest and Vietnam over 12 years. Encompassing over 30 million work hours in Oregon since 1998\, Intel's construction projects set the benchmark for safe construction in the Pacific Northwest. \n\nToday\, Brett is a Principal Consultant with BSI\, and advises companies that want to make safety culture the foundation for organizational success. Brett also serves on the Board of Directors of SafeBuild Alliance\, a nonprofit organization promoting the transformation of workplace cultures to achieve an incident-free construction industry.\n\n\n\nAshlee Connor\n\nAshlee brings to BSI EHS Services and Solutions a focus on general industry and construction safety as an Associate Consultant. She is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) with over 7 years of construction and general industry safety experience. Ashlee also has experience in supporting general contractors and owners for new construction and heavy civil construction\, with focus on light rail\, semiconductor manufacturing plants\, industrial facilities\, and high-rise office/residential buildings.\n\nAshlee's primary approach is in-field coaching of manufacturing and construction crews and their leaders on the value of a strong safety culture\, leading them to successful implementation of safety program elements
